It is a great start with the UltraNet Multi-service Director! The first 60 days showed customer orders exceeding manufacturing forecasts, with broad customer acceptance in the traditional strongholds of financial and government, as well as telecommunications and transportation.
Another good news is, that there were more large UMD sales than expected, with one fifth of units being "highly populated" (more than 128 ports). A 128-port director is at or near the upper end of what other competitors offer, while UMD customers still have plenty of room to grow. There was also a great success in the midrange space, with more than half of units being sold with 64 or fewer ports. Even companies with smaller environments see the value in UMD's future-proof architecture, allowing them to grow in ports and capabilities into the future.
Finally, three-quarters of UMD shipments have included network-based software services, proving that it's not just about the switching anymore, and that management and other multi-services are very important to customers.
